Shingeki no kyojin or in English; Attack on Titan. It has been 4 years (more or less) that the last episode of season 1 was aired. It has left fans wondering what will happen to the female titan and there is another wall breach as we see a titan peeping into the wall.
I will give you a quick recap on season 1 in case you forgot about what it was all about. Season one is somewhat the origins story of Erin Yeager and his friends Mikasa Ackerman and Armin Arlert. We were also introduced to the origins of the huge walls where human civilization has lived for hundreds of years. It was for the protection from the Titans, naked humanoid giants who mindlessly litter the outside world and eats people. Then one day, after a hundred years of safe living, the outer wall has been broken down by a colossal titan. A huge titan that is taller than the wall itself. People have panicked and a lot of people were eaten by the titans that got in. This included Erin’s mother. But to the military and politicians inside the wall, they are in wonder where the Colossal Titan have gone to after breaking the wall.
5 years after the fall of Wall Maria, Erin and his friends enlisted in the military as survey corps under Erwin and Levi’s command. Amidst defending the wall from the titans, Erin got eaten and we found out that Erin has the ability to transform into a titan. There are a lot of people in the political arena that wants him dead but Levi took him in under his watch as a military asset. And Erin proves this when he helped sealed Wall Maria with a bolder to stop more titans in coming inside the wall. Meanwhile back at the gate where evacuation is being done, we first encounter the armored titan that looks similarly with the colossal titan.
Speeding up to the episode, we were also introduced to a female titan that seems to have interest in kidnapping Erin. Eventually, it was found out that that female titan was none other than Annie. One of Erin’s batch mates as a cadet. Before they could interrogate her, she enclosed herself inside a crystal and seems to be in hibernation mode. When the season ended we were left with this image and shocked people looking up to what was peeking through the wall.

I was not really a fan when this series started. I have to admit, I just watched the live action movie because I wanted to know what the fuss was it all about. The movie got me hooked and it made me want some answers to the questions that I had in the movie. So I started watching the anime series and got hooked into it. Since then I couldn’t wait for season 2.

And to my dismay... Season 2 ended with 12 episodes and season 3 won’t be until 2018 T_T

Basically the photo you see above is the summary of season 2.
It started where season 1 ended. Remember the titan peeking into the wall?

Turns out, this titan is embedded into the wall and one of the Pastors in the Wall cult seemed to panic and demanded that they cover it from sunlight. Hange demanded an answer from the pastor, but the pastor won’t tell her anything. Meanwhile at the outpost near Wall Rose, titans are seen advancing from the south. Their commander, Mike Zacharias orders them to warn nearby villages and to the capital about the titans inside Wall Rose. He and some of his troops stayed behind to delay the titans giving the 104th trainees time to reach the villages and warn the people living there.

We are also introduced to a new type of titan, the Beast Titan. The Beast Titan can talk intellectually and can control the mindless titans. This was presented to us when he asked Mike about his gears and he wouldn’t tell him. What he did was took his gear away and released the mindless titans of his control and they ended up feasting on him. It was a horrible way to die and I myself felt horrible after watching the episode.

This season have a lot of secrets being opened to us. We learned that Ymir is a titan. She revealed her titan form when they were trapped up on the tower with titans trying to climb up and eat them. We also learned that Annie came from the same village with Reiner and Bertholdt and that Reiner is the Armored Titan and Bertholdt is the Colossal Titan. A battle broke between the Armored Titan and Erin’s titan form. Erin was losing but eventually he was able to corner the armored titan, but the colossal titan fell on them that caused Erin to loose and be taken away by Reiner and Bertholdt. They also took Ymir with them.
With Erin being taken away, the survey corp along with the military police commence a rescue mission for Erin after they found out that there was no hole found in Wall Rose and that the possibility here is that the titans came from inside. In the process of saving Erin, a lot of the MPs died along with some of the survey corps. Erwin lost an arm as he charged through in saving Erin. They finally escaped from the titans with Erin when Erin shown the coordinate ability, the ability to control mindless titans. This manifested when his friend Hannes got eaten by the same titan that ate his mother.
The season ended with Hange reporting to Levi, Erwin and Pyxis that the titans that appeared within Wall Rose were in fact the people of Connie's village. This gave them the knowledge that titans were once humans. As the episode closes, we once again see the Beast Titan on top of a wall looking inside it with a blond man with glasses telling him “Not yet.”

The annoying part of this is that, they gave us 25 episodes for season 1 and only 12 episodes for season 2. We need to wait until 2018 for the 3rd season and we’re not even sure if they are serious in releasing the 3rd season next year. They gave us answers to some of our questions in season 1 but they also left us hanging with too many questions after season 2.
Also, Warner Brothers are negotiating for the rights to make a reboot/remake of Attack on Titan live action movie, this time with a Hollywood cast. If they will be successful in getting the rights it will be handed over to Fantastic Beasts and Where to find them producer David Heyman.
