Many of you may have known about an app named SNAPCART. I first heard of it a year ago from a friend at work. You take photos of your grocery and minimart receipts and depending on the value of the receipt you get cash equivalent. The more constant you snap photos of your receipts the more chances in getting more out of the value of your receipt.

So I went along with it, not bad. Although I have read a lot of blogs and review that SnapCart is a scam. It didn't bother me. I mean, the only thing they can get out from my receipts are the products that I usually buy and last four digits of the card I used in paying the items (That is if I use a card in paying my grocery) and my full name if, again, I use my card or swiping my loyalty card from the store I was buying my groceries at.) It’s not enough information that a hacker or identity theft or a digital thief needs to steal my identity or money. Besides, a hacker will just be wasting their time hacking my cards only to find out I got zero money in my cards/account.

Anyway, I turned deaf ears with all the "scam yan" comments, until I finally accumulated php500. I was trying to cash out because I needed money. It took months for them to process the cash out only to be informed that they have a problem with their cash out option for banks. It really pissed me off. AS in BIG TIME. I gave them one star review in google play store and wrote a review that their cash out option is a scam. They instead offer me to convert my 500 cash into cellphone load. Which I do not need since I am on postpaid. It really pissed me off, coz I needed money and here's an option for me to survive till next payday and I couldn't have it. They gave their apologies and gave me back my 500php cash back in my snapcart account. I told myself, this is stupid. You can withdraw the accumulated cash as a cellphone load or Zalora voucher, but I can't withdraw it as cash. IT REALLY PISSED ME OFF.

It took me awhile to start snapping receipts again. Some people by know would have probably stopped snapping and uninstalled the app. But I don't know, it became like a game or pass time for me to snap those receipts and see my accumulated cash grow. And I have to admit, they were not totally a scam, coz they offer me other alternatives to use the accumulated cash.

Then, I am once again on a financial bind till payday and I need cash. I got 1000++ pesos accumulated cash in snapcart now. I once again tried to cash out, it told me 7 days maximum for processing. I patiently waited for 7days and viola... the money is in my bank account. HALLELUYA!!! Thank you SnapCart. You have save me and hoping this 1000pesos will help me survive for 2 weeks till payday.

Look, the lesson learned here is that, before listening to people who claim something is a scam, ask them if they have tried it. Yes, I felt I was scammed when they didn't give my 500 for my 1st attempt to cash out, but I eventually accepted their excuse that they have trouble with the bank processing. It was not exactly like they weren't given me replies. It’s a matter of processing error. SO I gave them a chance. And on the 2nd time around, they lived up to what they promised to deliver.

So NO. SnapCart is NOT a scam.
